Rouen: the controllers of the public transport network of the agglomeration now equipped with a camera
You may have seen them if you take public transport from the Rouen metropolis.Recently, controllers have been equipped with small surveillance cameras.20 aircraft were deployed on the Tip network to strengthen safety on board and tramway.
It is a small object, discreet, supposed to have its effect.
Since the beginning of October, the agents verifying the public transport network of the Rouen agglomeration have been equipped with small cameras.
One in 3 agent is now equipped with it.Hanging to his chest, the camera is constantly lit and triggered only if necessary.
"There is no automatic trigger. The camera is just waiting. It is up to us to launch the recording as soon as a conflict begins or if there is a need for emergency, "explains Michaël Jean, ATCUCE NETWORK ACCOUNTER.The agent assures that if he triggers the recording of images, the traveler is warned.
Since the implementation of this video surveillance system, these portable cameras have been triggered twice "to calm the situation".
A deterrent system
Travelers are shared on the subject. When some find it intrusive, others feel reassured. This is the objective of this device implemented by the Transdev group, operating bus and tram lines.
"The objective is to appease the relationship between our agent and the person who is going to be verbalized," explains Sylvain Diran, operating director of the group, before continuing "it makes it possible to reduce incivility but also to harvestevidence in the event of a problem to support a possible filing of complaints ".
The recorded images cannot be kept for more than 30 days, after this period, they are simply destroyed. In the event of a conflict, they will be processed by a person authorized to look at them in a specific legal framework.
Caen, already equipped
In Caen, this portable camera system has existed since May 2017.The controllers of the Twisto network have the possibility of triggering the recording of images if the situation is tightened with a passenger.
A device installed to create a feeling of security in urban transport: "the less conflict, the more the other customers feel safe," explains Bruno Guergan, director of Keolis Caen.
